Aluminium Alloy Dome
Compression loads affect the local stability of the dome and, in order to avoid warping caused by torsion, a section has been designed that fulfils the needs of torsional rigidity. With this section, in a II shape, rigidity is up to 50 times greater than the rigidity of the standard I shaped section.

Comparison of the torsional rigidity of I
and II shaped sections. This section furthermore removes the possibility of a fault through the buckling of the weaker of the two main shafts, when the covering panels have been firmly affixed. Consequently, application is only made of stainless steel bolts approved by the Institut für Bautechnik,
Berlin (Z-14.1-4), for attaching the aluminium panels.
